From the 18th century Britain underwent a significant transformation in the way it managed and farmed land. The adoption of new methods and technology, such as the seed drill, considerably increased productivity and output. In Essex the changes included a steady shift to cereal farming and market gardening and in tonight's talk Neil Wiffen from the Essex Records Office will draw on archive material to illustrate this evolution.
