The renowned nature writer, Robert Macfarlane deemed J. A. Baker's, The Peregrine, 'a masterpiece of twentieth-century non-fiction.' A high commendation indeed for this son of Chelmsford whose books are based largely on his observations of birds in the Essex countryside. Tonight's talk is given by Baker-enthusiast and keen birdwatcher, David Simmonds, who has created the website www.jabaker.co.uk to celebrate Baker's legacy.
