Son-of-Sible-Hedingham, Sir John Hawkwood is the subject of tonight's illustrated talk by local historian and author, Jan Cole. Also known by the Italian name Giovanni Acuto, Sir John was the captain of the mercenary force, The White Company, that for 30 years played a role in the wars of 14th-century Italy. Join us to learn how this notable man rose to fame and fortune from such humble local beginnings.
